A new member joins UDG!
We welcome Martina Basini as a new PostDoc in our group. Her research activity investigates the cooperation of electrons and nuclei in quantum material dynamics. She is interested in the microscopic effects arising in the electronic cloud as a consequence of coherent excitation of circularly polarized phonons.
UDG members attend Gordon Research Seminar and Gordon Research Conference
A large delegation of the Ultrafast Dynamics Group attended the Gordon Research Seminar (03-04.02.2024), and subsqeuently, Gordon Research Conference (04-09.02.2024), on Ultrafast Phenomena in Cooperative Systems close to Lucca (Italy).
Janine Zemp-Dössegger successfully defends her Doctoral thesis
We congratulate Janine Zemp-Dössegger on the successfull defense of her Doctoral thesis. She presented her achievements on her work on "Terahertz response and dynamics in the spin-ladder compound Sr14−𝑥Ca𝑥Cu24O41". She will stay with us in the upcoming months to finalise her projects. We wish her all the best for her future career.
Davide Soranzio receives the ETH Zurich Career Seed Award
We congratulate Davide on receiving the ETH Career Seed Award. With its support he will lead a project titled "Mid-infrared time-resolved magneto-optics" starting from July 2023.
Visit from Jeremy Johnson from BYU
Jeremey Johnson from the Brigham Young University in Provo is visiting us for two weeks with two of his students. We are doing some high field 2d THz measurements on LiB3O5 together.
